What is myofascial decompression?

Myofascial decompression, or MFD, can treat soft tissue conditions, musculoskeletal tension, pain and sports injuries. During MFD, your physical therapist puts plastic cups on your skin for three to five minutes to create suction on the skin, muscles and fascia. This creates space between the layers of tissue, allowing them to move more efficiently and with less restriction. It is usually combined with active motion patterns to train your body to work in the newly established range of motion more efficiently.

What are the benefits?

Myofascial decompression can help with movement restrictions, adhesions and pain reduction. It helps you to move more efficiently and with greater ease.
